TGIF.

Finally, it's Friday. After a long week I'm ready for the reprieve the weekend brings.
Friday is also the day I kind of let loose a little and splurge on my eating. I typically go out with my best friend to get appetizers at a good restaurant around town. Tonight I was supposed to spend time with my boyfriend, but he can't get out of his house, so my sister and I are going to get sushi instead. =]

Last night's dinner:

Salad, chicken farfalle + spinach, and asparagus.

The asparagus was definitely my favorite part. This was actually only the second time I've eaten asparagus, and I love it:

So easy to prepare, too. Just snap the ends off, brush with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt, and bake.

This mornings breakfast was simple but very filling:

Lemon Larabar and caramel Oikos. I've never had the Lemon flavor of Larabar before, and I was totally pleased. And caramel Oikos is my all time favorite flavor...totally satisfying...I've got a huge sweet tooth.

Lunch!

As you can see I'm a huge bar fan...teeheehee....Amazing Grass Green Superfood bars are at the tippy top of my list, however. I bought one on impulse about two months ago, and I didn't have high expectations...figured it would be gritty and perhaps dirt-flavored. The EXACT opposite is true. It's got such a smooth texture and all you can taste is chocolate, nuttiness, and frutiness, and it's amazingly healthy to boot. Mmmm. Along with the bar I had squeezable apple sauce, which is such an interesting concept. Mess-free and delicious, though. I also had a falafel salad. I definitely want to learn how to make my own falafel, but for now I buy it frozen and simply microwave them. The falafel went on top of a bed of spinach and was drizzled with pomegranate raspberry dressing. Such a great explosion of flavor.
I'm off to get sushi...pics of that later. ;]

Europe on my mind

I spent the first of april through the tenth in europe, and if there's one thing I miss, its the buttery croissants I got to eat every morning for breakfast. When I got back to the states, the first thing I wanted to do was buy croissants. I did just that. My grocery store only had one variety: whole wheat and flax. So I went with it.

This morning I had one wheat and flax croissant with crofter's superfruit spread and nutella.

It was DELICIOUS. The croissant obviously wasn't as buttery as the ones I enjoyed in Europe, but it still had a nice texture. Nutella has been a fav for a while but this was my first time trying Crofter's. Best jam I've ever had, by far. It's got chunks of cherries in it and is flavored with organic red grapes, organic passionfruit, and organic maqui, as well as organic natural cane sugar. Perfection. I highly recommend it.

Halfway through my first class I ate an apple C Bar.
I've experimented with all kinds of Clif bars, from the regular ones with the mountain-climber dude on the front, to Luna bars, to the Clif Kids ones. The regular ones are too dense for my taste, but I adore Lunas and the Clif Kids are my favorite. Well...until now. The C bar was soooo good, and so soft. It had the same texture as a Larabar, and tasted much the same as the apple pie kind. I will definitely be buying this one again.

Lunch will remain unpictured since it was a perfunctory school lunch. I honestly detest school lunch but sometimes I'm too lazy to pack, so I buy. It was chicken nugget day, though, which helped me detest the school's food a little less. =]

Asparagus is a side dish for dinner tonight...can't wait!

Bonjour!

Soo, this is my new food blog. I’ll be posting pictures daily (hopefully) of what I eat.
Just a brief introduction:

For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a passion for food. I think it began when I was about 8 years old and would park myself in front of the TV and watch hours of Food Network…it mesmerized me. I’d also concoct odd little creations, like freezing orange juice with cherries, or I would beg my mom to try cooking this or that.

Unfortunately around that time I had not only a passion for familiarizing myself with food but also eating it. By the time I was 12 I was about 40 pounds overweight. At 13 I decided to do something about it, so I became a member of a gym and controlled my eating habits. Once I jump started my metabolism, there was no going back, and I lost what I needed to lose. Since then I have chosen moderation over gorging myself. My eating habits have improved even more since I started exploring the all-natural/organic lifestyle, and about 75% of my diet is such. I aspire to be a nutritionist and spread both my passion for health and REAL food.
...Oh, and that salad up there? Ate it in St. Malo, France, AKA my favorite city on this entire planet thus far. It's chitterling sausage, romaine, tomatoes, egg, potatoes, and emmental cheese. Amazing!
